Description: Two Day Whitewater Slalom Race
Start Date: 2010-09-18
End Date: 2010-09-19
Race Description: The Farmington Slalom is the oldest operating whitewater slalom in the United States. The Brandywine Slalom was an older event but is no longer operating. The Farmington Slalom has been held on the same site for more than fifty years, although it was held in April in it’s formative years. For the past twenty years it has been held on the weekend after Columbus Day weekend at the height of the “Fall Colors” season.
Many thanks to the management at Tolland State Forest for providing the water release that makes the race possible. The race site is at the entrance to Tolland State Forest just off Route 8, mile marker 7, just South of Otis, MA, and just North of the Connecticut state line, on the Farmington River. The river is mild class 2 at the race site. This race is the final New England Slalom Series race of the season and will be run as a two day race with first runs Saturday afternoon and second runs on Sunday.
